A milestone is coming for the OORT network. We are approaching our first mining halving - and it is worth understanding what that means and why it matters.
How the halving works
The OORT mining pool started with 400 million tokens. The first halving triggers once 50% of that pool has been mined, meaning when the remaining reserve approaches 200 million tokens. We are close.
The next halving will follow the same logic: once another 50% of the remaining pool (relative to 200 million) is mined, bringing the reserve to 100 million, the second halving kicks in.
What changes after the first halving
Following the halving, daily mining rewards will be as follows:
Deimos I miners: daily rewards adjust from 2.875 OOORT 2.875 to 1.4375 OORT.
Deimos II miners: daily rewards adjust from 34.5 OORT to 17.25 OORT
Why this matters
Even though halving is technical event, it is a major signal that the network is maturing. Fewer tokens entering circulation means the supply side tightens, which is a healthy sign for any long-term ecosystem.
Bitcoin went through this. Ethereum went through this. Now OORT is reaching the same milestone.
