To accelerate the expansion of the OORT Edge network, we are excited to announce the OORT Edge Growth Challenge.

Timeline

• Start Date: September 12th, 2024, at 9 AM ET
• End Date: March 12, 2025, at 9 AM ET, or when 100,000 new nodes are deployed on OORT Edge—whichever comes first.

Challenge Details

• Free License: For the first 100,000 nodes that join the network and stake 500 $OORT within six months, the $60 license fee will be waived.
• Extra Rewards: The first 30,000 nodes that join the network and stake 500 $OORT will receive 1,800 $OORT, released linearly over 18 months after being deployed for one month. If a node goes offline for more than 10 days in a month, the device will not receive the extra reward for that month.
• After 100,000 Nodes: Miners will need to burn the equivalent of $60 worth of $OORT to obtain a license.

OORT Edge Node Rewards

As per the updated OORT Tokenomics, 400 million tokens are reserved for OORT Edge rewards, to be released in stages:

• Stage 1: 200 million tokens
• Stage 2: 100 million tokens
• Stage 3: 50 million tokens, and so on, with each stage halving the token release of the previous one.

In Stage 1, each OORT Edge node will produce 2.875 $OORT per day. In subsequent stages, node output will be halved. For example, in Stage 2, each device will produce 1.4375 $OORT per day.

Once all tokens for a stage are distributed, the network will automatically transition to the next stage. If there are 100,000 active OORT Edge nodes in Stage 1, it will take approximately 695.65 days (about two years) to release all tokens. After that, node rewards will be halved. If the number of nodes is lower (e.g., 50,000), the halving cycle will extend to about four years.
