It’s been a few months since our last Town Hall in January, and during that time, the OORT team has been heads down — flying across regions, building relentlessly, and pushing the boundaries of decentralized AI. Today, we’re excited to share several important updates, milestones, and a glimpse into what’s ahead.
As we look ahead to 2025, OORT is doubling down on its mission to power the future of AI through decentralized infrastructure. This year, our core focus is OORT DataHub—a platform designed to solve the growing bottleneck of high-quality, AI-ready data. Since its early development in late 2023, DataHub has rapidly evolved, now boasting over 160,000 active data contributors worldwide. We've successfully validated our business model through proof-of-concept deployments, enabling AI companies to source valuable datasets while rewarding contributors with OORT tokens. Our open-source contributions have also gained traction—our datasets have trended on Kaggle, and we were recently featured by Cointelegraph for bridging Web3 and AI. Looking forward, key milestones include the launch of the DataHub Launchpad (late Q2/early Q3), allowing anyone to post custom data collection tasks, and the MVP of OORT Compute by year’s end, focused on decentralized data processing (e.g., cleaning, labeling). On the infrastructure front, we’re excited about the launch of Deimos II, our next-gen edge device designed for on-device data processing and LLM inference. It’s efficient, powerful, and rewards users for helping prepare data for AI workloads. With over 80,000 nodes already deployed globally, we're aiming to push toward 100,000 nodes by scaling Deimos II throughout 2025. Together, our product suite—OORT Storage, DataHub, and Compute—forms a full-stack, decentralized solution to meet the data needs of tomorrow's AI.

One of the most exciting validations of OORT DataHub’s real-world impact comes from our client IntelliFusion, a publicly listed AI company in Asia. They needed highly specific visual data to train AI-powered smart cameras for construction site safety monitoring—something traditionally difficult and time-consuming to collect. Using DataHub, we mobilized our global contributor network and delivered the required dataset in just days, showcasing how Web3 infrastructure can solve real pain points for Web2 AI companies. This successful partnership marks a key milestone for DataHub and highlights the power of community-driven data collection at scale.
Our flagship product, DataHub, is entering an exciting new phase in 2025 as we prepare to take it Omni-chain. This means OORT will bring decentralized AI capabilities to multiple blockchain ecosystems—both emerging and established—dramatically expanding our reach and use cases. As we build strategic partnerships across chains, DataHub is set to become the go-to solution for AI-ready data collection at scale.
A healthy token economy is vital to long-term sustainability, and OORT continues to deliver. Recently, over 74,000 CCNA testnet tokens were converted into $OORT, followed by a burn of 1.47 million OORT tokens—representing penalties from testnet mining. This burn reduces overall supply and reinforces OORT’s value capture mechanism, directly benefiting token holders and enhancing the utility of our native asset.
We’re doubling down on empowering developers to build with us. In 2025, OORT has earmarked $1 million USD in grants to support innovative teams building within our ecosystem. The first grant has already been awarded to DataSecure, a Dubai-based team developing the Open Validation Framework (OVF)—a verification layer for human-AI interactions. OVF will enable users to stake OORT and validate data tasks submitted to DataHub, bringing transparency and community participation to AI data quality.
OORT’s ecosystem continues to expand with a strong foundation of flagship products: our decentralized storage solution (in partnership with Dell), our AI agent collaboration with Lenovo, and the fast-evolving DataHub. As we shift focus to on-chain activity and utility, we’re mobilizing the community to participate not just as users, but as co-builders of the decentralized AI future.
OORT is rapidly solidifying its position as a pioneer in decentralized AI, with the team making global waves across key industry events. As Dr. Yang represents us at Consensus Toronto and Dr. Max Li continues his work at the world’s only AI-dedicated university—MBZUAI in Abu Dhabi—OORT’s presence in high-level conversations around the future of AI is undeniable. With a clear vision and international recognition, we’re proud to be building the infrastructure that powers the next wave of decentralized intelligence.
Dr. Max Li recently shared insights from his ongoing collaboration with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) in Abu Dhabi—the world’s first university fully dedicated to AI. Invited to help develop academic programs, Dr. Max Li is now co-supervising students and collaborating on several research projects, creating a valuable bridge between academic research and real-world innovation.
Despite MBZUAI’s academic strength, decentralized AI (DeAI) remains a new and unfamiliar concept—even among AI experts. This highlights the tremendous opportunity OORT has to lead education and development in this space. Much like the early days of Bitcoin, DeAI is at the dawn of mainstream understanding, which positions OORT at the forefront of a groundbreaking movement.
To further this mission, Dr. Max Liand MBZUAI professors are co-authoring what could be the world’s first textbook on decentralized AI, aiming to publish it next year. This foundational work will not only educate the next generation of AI talent but also solidify OORT’s role as a thought leader and pioneer in the decentralized AI ecosystem.
HumanAIx is OORT’s bold nonprofit initiative aimed at putting humans back at the center of the AI lifecycle. As AI advances and threatens to automate jobs, HumanAIx creates an open protocol where people around the world can contribute to data tasks—like collection and labeling—and get rewarded in real time. It’s about ensuring AI is built with human input, not just for human use.
The project is backed by 13 founding members including io.net, YGG, and YourStorage, all coming together to build a decentralized AI tech stack that includes open protocols for task marketplaces, storage, and compute. Inspired by the principles of Bitcoin—transparency, censorship resistance, and verifiability—HumanAIx is setting a new standard for trust and openness in the AI space.
The technical roadmap is complete, and a treasury is next. OORT’s own technologies—DataHub, decentralized storage, and compute—will play a critical role in powering the stack. As interest from Web3 and AI communities surges, HumanAIx stands poised to become a foundational layer for a more equitable and human-driven AI future.
HumanAIx is more than just infrastructure; it’s a movement. It’s about leaving behind a legacy that keeps AI aligned with human values. As Mike put it, "Now is the time to celebrate." For long-time supporters and new community members alike, Human AIX represents the boldest leap yet toward a decentralized, inclusive AI future.
Reward Distribution Delay & Security Measures:
The delay in distributing recall rewards is due to an internal security incident involving a former employee who exploited a loophole. After their immediate termination, the team focused on securing the system—encrypting APIs and closing referral vulnerabilities. Legal action is ongoing, and the exact reward distribution timeline will be confirmed once the stolen rewards are recovered.
Ensuring Fairness & System Improvements:
Suspicious batch accounts have been identified and controlled, and new safeguards are being implemented in an updated release to prevent future abuse. The team emphasized fairness as a top priority and will propose corrective actions once the legal process concludes. Future incentive campaigns will be more robust, with improved evaluation mechanisms to ensure transparency and community trust.
